Memorable Colors from Movie “Talladega Nights” Make Return on Oct. 18-20

TALLADEGA, AL – When 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Kurt Busch returns to Talladega Superspeedway during the Camping World RV Sales 500 Weekend, Oct. 18-20, he will do so in colors familiar with movie goers everywhere.

Wonder bread, which made a memorable appearance in the 2006 movie Talladega Nights, will return to Talladega Superspeedway as primary sponsor of Busch and his No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet for the sixth race in the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase for the Championship.

The colorful paint scheme on Busch’s car will look similar to the No. 26 Wonder bread race car from the movie. In addition to the Wonder car, the Wonder bread hot air balloon will be showcased at NASCAR’s Most Competitive Track, towering outside the track behind turn four.

“This motorsports partnership definitely carries a special feeling with two American icons coming together – Wonder bread and NASCAR – at one of America’s legendary racetracks,” said Busch. “And the sponsorship also has a nostalgic feel for me since Wonder bread was a household staple while growing up in Las Vegas.”

“Talladega is a track that we can win at and a celebration with the Wonder car in Victory Lane will make this partnership even more special.”

While he hasn’t gone to victory lane at Talladega, Busch, who currently ranks seventh in the Chase for the Championship, has always been a threat at the 2.66-mile venue. He has 13 top-10 finishes, six of which were top-five, and four third-place finishes. He was in position for a win earlier this year in the Aaron’s 499, but was involved in a late-race incident.

“I know race fans everywhere can’t wait to see Kurt and the colorful Wonder bread car on the high banks of Talladega,” said Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch. “In the Talladega Nights movie, the Wonder bread car put on a show, and with Kurt behind the wheel, fans can expect some excitement, too. They will also enjoy seeing the Wonder bread hot air balloon outside of turn four. It’s going to be a festive atmosphere to say the least.”

This marks the reintroduction of the Wonder brand, which had been off the market since the bankruptcy of its former owner late last year. Flowers Foods, a leading producer and marketer of packaged bakery foods in the U.S. acquired the Wonder brand in July 2013.

Wonder is back in grocery stores throughout Flowers’ fresh delivery market area, in cities and towns in the East, South, Southwest, and California where it was sold before.
