Eric McClure, driver of the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Toyota, is stable and alert following a late-race incident yesterday (Saturday) during the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Talladega Superspeedway.
He is undergoing tests and remains under observation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital.
McClure and his family would like to express their thanks to the NASCAR community for their thoughts, support and concern.
The team will release any updates as they occur.
SUNDAY EVENING UPDATE
Eric McClure, driver of the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Toyota, will remain hospitalized overnight for further observation at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Eric McClure, driver of the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Toyota, was transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital earlier this afternoon following a late race incident during the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.
Eric is awake, alert and talking to family members. He is being kept overnight for further observation.
Danica Patrick spun on The Final Lap and took a wicked hit to the inside wall on the backstretch (almost at full speed) after contact with Aric Almirola. She was checked and released from the infield care center.
-1st Caution, David Gilliland shot up into Juan Pablo Montoya and Paul Menard. Brad Keselowski hit the wall trying to avoid the wreck.
-With about 6 laps to go, and after coming in for fuel, Michael Waltrip crashed getting back up to speed and will not make the 500
