Mark Martin led 195 laps the most ever at this track and grabbed his 39th career win, 4th win of 2009 (the most of all drivers), and his first at Chicagoland.

-Kyle Busch had a rough night with a bad handling 18 machine, bounced off the wall multiple times, dropped a cylinder and finally blew up and wrecked. He finished 33rd and is now 10th in the points

-Kurt Busch had a top 5 run in his sights but finished 17th after Jimmie Johnson washed up the racetrack and pounded the #2 late in the race. Kurt said “I’m starting to lose my faith in Jimmie’s ability as a 3 time champion”

-Paul Menard had a top 10 run going when he made contact with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and cut a tire down and wrecked with Jeff Burton and Scott Speed

Former Jeff Gordon Racing School Rebranded

CHICAGO, Ill. (July 9, 2009) – The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR Racing ExperienceAR) announced today an agreement to rebrand the former Jeff Gordon Racing School into the NASCAR Racing Experience. The multi-year licensing agreement brings an authentic racing experience to NASCAR fans, its sponsors and business partners at racetracks throughout the country.

The NASCAR Racing Experience (NRE) provides a menu of racing programs from a ride-along as a front-seat passenger to the full racing experience which puts fans behind the wheel of an authentic race car. The program will use current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racecars for all of its programs.

NNS Recap: Joey Logano Wins First His Chicagoland Speedway Race — And Breaks A Record, Too

Joey Logano wins Chicagoland NNSJOLIET, Ill. — It would have been hard to find more than two people at Chicagoland Speedway who thought crew chief Dave Rogers’ final call was the right one.

Even driver Joey Logano had his doubts. But Logano streaked to victory in Friday night’s Dollar General 300 Nationwide Series race, vindicating Rogers’ decision to keep Logano on the track during a late caution in the 200-lap event at the 1.5-mile speedway.

Logano, who led a race-high 96 laps, stayed out on old tires during the second and final caution of the race — called on Lap 185 because of debris — as did Jason Leffler. After the restart on Lap 192, Logano pulled away from teammate Kyle Busch, who took two tires under the caution.
