NASCAR to Announce 2012 Schedule via Website and Twitter

NASCAR To Release 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Schedule On NASCAR.COM;
Twitter Q&A, Chat To Follow

WHAT:
NASCAR will unveil the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule via its social/digital channels on Wednesday, September 28, at noon ET.

NASCAR.COM will first unveil next year’s schedule on its homepage, with a question-and-answer Twitter chat session to follow involving NASCAR (@NASCAR) and NASCAR Senior Vice President of Racing Operations Steve O’Donnell (@odsteve). Fans, media, teams and tracks are encouraged to participate throughout the one-hour interactive Twitter forum.

A special hashtag – #2012Schedule – will accompany each tweet, and followers are encouraged to use it as well. As always, the hashtag #NASCAR also will be used. Links to special coverage on NASCAR.COM will direct followers to additional content.

WHO TO FOLLOW:
@NASCAR: Starting at noon, NASCAR will tweet the schedule for the first month of the 2012 season. Every five minutes, the following month’s schedule will be tweeted.

@odsteve: Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR’s senior vice president of racing operations, is tasked with developing each season’s schedule. During the Twitter Q&A, he’ll offer his insight into development of the schedule, and the process that goes into putting together a 38-week schedule that encompasses 23 tracks.
