Kyle Busch’s winning ways in the NASCAR Nationwide Series may have taken a one year hiatus in 2012, but he is now re-writing the history books in 2013. In winning Friday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300, Busch became the first driver in NASCAR Nationwide Series history to win four of the first six races in a season.

Busch was one starting spot away from making it a completely perfect day in his No. 54 Monster Energy Drink Toyota, as he was edged-out in qualifying by rookie driver Alex Bowman.

The Las Vegas native led the race five times for 91 laps, and he was by far and away the class of the field — as he has been for the majority of 2013.

2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski, who finished second, just didn’t have anything for Kyle Busch Friday night.

“I had a pretty strong car,” Keselowski said, “but didn’t have enough. I gave it all I had.”

Keselowski who had been pumped up all night long by his crew by some unorthodox conversations, was left to wonder whether Busch is so dominant because of his talent alone — or if it is Joe Gibbs Racing’s equipment in the Nationwide Series that elevates Busch to another level.

“Kyle is definitely really strong. He’s a great driver for sure, but I think you have to look at the cars they have at Gibbs. I think last year was a bit of an eye opener for us. Joey (Logano) won a bunch of races in that same car and Kyle had the reverse fortune, so I think that shows you the effort that Gibbs puts into this series and they’re being rewarded as they should be for that effort.”

Whether its the car, or it’s that Kyle Busch is head and shoulders above everyone else when the race distance is 300 miles — on thing is for sure, that No. 54 car has laid a whoopin’ on everyone so far in 2013, and it doesn’t show any signs of letting up.
