Jeff Gordon, who has three Sprint All-Star race wins in his illustrious career, trails only his teammate Jimmie Johnson (four wins) on the all-time win-list in this prestigious dash for the cash event which has been a fixture on the schedule since 1985.
Although Gordon hasn’t won this event since 2001 (13 years ago), he may have his best shot in years to reach victory lane on Saturday.
Gordon is coming off of an impressive victory last Saturday at Kansas Speedway, and he has been the most consistent driver through the first 10 races of 2014, which is why he holds the series point lead.
For the last few seasons Gordon has slumped to start the season, but so far in 2014 the four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion is turning back the clocks, and talks of impending retirement for the last few seasons have been squelched.
Gordon honestly seems refreshed, and ready to attack for a fifth Sprint Cup Series title. Don’t count out the 89-time winner in NASCAR’s premier division in the Sprint All-Star Race Saturday night.
