FORT WORTH, Texas — Myatt Snider came into Friday night’s JAG Metals 350 at Texas Motor Speedway on a hot streak of sorts. He had finished sixth at Dover, Second at Texas and third a week ago in Martinsville. In Friday night’s event at the 1.5-mile speedway, it looked like Snider was heading to his first career victory.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Ryan Blaney was fast all day on Friday at Texas Motor Speedway, and it culminated in a pole position for the 24-year-old driver after a 200.505mph lap in qualifying for Sunday’s AAA Texas 500.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Ryan Blaney, has always had a penchant for speed at Texas Motor Speedway in his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career, and that trend continued Friday afternoon in the First Cup Series practice session of the week for Sunday’s AAA Texas 500.

It’s here, everyone’s favorite week — Darlington Throwback — is here. We get to see an amazing race, but we also get to see colors, and designs that take us back to when we were younger. This year, a bunch of teams have stepped up their games and have brought amazing throwback paint schemes.

I have gone ahead and taken each scheme, and in the honor of throwback weekend, I made them into a replica trading card from the first-ever NASCAR collector set (1988 Maxx) which was released 30 years ago. On Thursday, NASCAR released new rules for the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series and Gander Outdoor Truck Series seasons. While there were a ton of new rules announced — I will get to some of those in a few — nothing is bigger than the incentive NASCAR just gave car owners to keep Cup Series drivers out of their Xfinity and Truck Series rides.

Starting in 2019, wins by Cup Series drivers in either of the other two NASCAR National Series will not count toward playoff points, or berths for the teams in which they compete.

This means if any owner wants to be able to run for the owner’s championship, they must stick with series regular drivers. Cup drivers had already been eliminated from driving for lower tier series championships while running for the Cup Series title in recent years. Then NASCAR took their rules to the next step by limiting the races in which Cup Series drivers could participate in the NXS and NGOTS.
