SHANNON SPAKE: Now the fun begins. Congratulations for being the two who made it to this point and supplying one of the best championship Chases yet.
Tony, you won the title twice. Only eight drivers have won it three or more times. What would it mean to be in elite company? I would imagine this year would be special knowing you’re the one writing the checks.

TONY STEWART: It’s definitely an awesome opportunity for us. Still very appreciative that Gene Haas for even giving us this opportunity to not only drive for him but be a co-owner with him. At the same time it’s a pretty cool opportunity this weekend to be the other side of the bookend of Jimmie’s dynasty, to be the only guy that could win a NEXTEL Cup championship, a Sprint Cup championship, and a Winston Cup championship, being the first time since Allen Kulwicki as an owner/driver. That would be probably be the best part of it.

SHANNON SPAKE: You said at one point, We don’t deserve to be in the Chase. If you could have imagined being in this chair with one race to go, what would you have said?

HOMESTEAD, Fla.—Austin Dillon withstood a strong challenge from race winner Johnny Sauter to win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship in Friday night’s Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

NASCAR called the event with 15 laps left with Sauter in the lead and Dillon in 10th place, giving Dillon, 21, the youngest champion in series history, a six-point edge in the series standings over Sauter.

Denny Hamlin finished second in the No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports truck, followed by Kevin Harvick, Nelson Piquet Jr. and Joey Coulter.

FYI WIRZ: NASCAR’s Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart talk finale at Homestead
Much talk will happen before the green flag in Homestead on Sunday Nov. 20 when Carl Edwards takes his skinny three point lead over Tony Stewart to the 1.5-mile oval track Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida.
That talk will include the playful comments between Edwards and Stewart as they toy with one another’s mind while the media focuses on them like eagles on prey.
But when the flag drops the public words cease and radio words begin between drivers, spotters and crew chiefs.
ESPN will bring the hi-definition excitement to waiting millions who are not in the stands starting at 3 p.m.
The pleasant south Florida weather is expected to bring warm sun and rainless moments as this time of the year is generally dry for the area.

Edwards Vs. Stewart: An Epic Matchup
Sunday it all comes down to Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart. All other drivers have been officially eliminated from championship consideration. A deeper look at the two combatants…

Carl Edwards: A picture of consistency, Edwards owns series-best numbers in top fives (18) and top 10s (25). But the reason he owns the points lead: his win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway earlier this season. Both Edwards and Stewart have scored the exact same amount of points over the first nine Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup races (356), but Edwards holds his scant three-point edge thanks to the three Chase bonus points he earned for his win at Las Vegas.

If Edwards holds on to his lead, he’ll join Bobby Labonte as the only two drivers to win both the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup championships.
