(January 29, 2014) – The U.S. Air Force will once again join Richard Petty Motorsports and the iconic No. 43 Ford as a vehicle to connect with America’s best young adults for the sixth consecutive season. Aric Almirola will pilot the Air Force Racing Ford for the two most patriotic race weekends of the year: Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway and the Fourth of July weekend race at Daytona International Speedway. jimmie_johnson_fansAccording to a survey by Harris Poll recently, asked adult fans 18 and older what their favorite sport was. Of course in first place by 35% was pro football, then baseball, college football, but in 4th place was our favorite sport …..Auto Racing…yes folks cars turning left beat out basketball, hockey, golf and college basketball.

“In 2014, 35 percent of fans call the NFL their favorite sport, followed by Major League Baseball (14 percent), college football (11 percent), auto racing (7 percent), the NBA (6 percent), the NHL (5 percent) and college basketball (3 percent).”

Bring back Rockingham Speedway to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, bring back North Wilksboro Speedway to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, run the Generation 6 car on those two tracks as well. What you’ll have is great edge of your seat, 200 MPH+, fender to fender race package, and get rid of the Chase.

Now on day two of Daytona Testing recently, NASCAR said no tandem drafting at the February Daytona events. Well that’s what NASCAR is: Pure racing action. Like I said I want a 200 MPH+ fender to fender race package. If NASCAR isn’t going to provide that, then I’m not going to be a fan. It’s as simple is that.

I sure hope NASCAR takes a look at this article and does the things listed. I sure hope NASCAR changes soon. The competition in NASCAR needs to change fast or NASCAR will lose its fan base. A couple of years ago Robin Pemberton said, “We’re gonna put the racing in the hands of the drivers. Boys have at it.” NASCAR get back there again.
