Surprise, surprise (not really)

CONCORD, N.C. (Aug. 30, 2013) – Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (EGR) announced today that young racing sensation Kyle Larson, a 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) driver and the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) Champion, will take over as the driver of the No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS beginning in 2014.

Fresh off his sixth top-five finish of the season, Kyle Larson heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the first time behind the wheel of his No. 32 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He finished sixth in last year’s truck series race at AMS. He currently holds a 67-point lead over Alex Bowman in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year battle with 13 top-10 finishes.

2012 Martinsville2 Jeff Gordon On Grid For QualifyingPOCONO, Pa. (July 29, 2013) – For defending race winner Jeff Gordon, the party in the Poconos may begin race morning. Will the celebration continue well past that afternoon’s GoBowling.com 400 at Pocono Raceway?
Gordon, who will celebrate his 42nd birthday on Sunday, will make his 42nd start at the 2.5-mile track this weekend. His six victories and 965 laps led are tops at “The Tricky Triangle” while he also has two poles, 18 top-fives and 28 top-10’s in his previous 41 starts at the Pennsylvania track.
“This is a very challenging track, but I love racing here,” said Gordon, driver of the No. 24 Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet. “In June, we had a fast race car but we struggled early in the run.
“We need to find some more speed early in the run while also having a fast car over the long runs.”

Two crew members of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing have been fired, suspended indefinitely from NASCAR after they were busted for possession of 10.5 pounds of marijuana. Chip Ganassi said in a statement. “We have a zero tolerance policy in this organization and effective immediately, both individuals’ employment has been terminated.”

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 10, 2011) – NASCAR announced Wednesday that it has indefinitely suspended crew members Jerome Frey and Trevor Lysne, both of whom worked with the No. 42 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team, for violating Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the substance abuse policy) of the 2011 NASCAR rule book.
