NASCAR Reinstates Driver Aaron Fike

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 21, 2012) – NASCAR has reinstated driver Aaron Fike upon his successful completion of NASCAR’s Substance Abuse Policy Road to Recovery Program. Fike had been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR July 11, 2007 for actions detrimental to stock car racing.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 17, 2012) NASCAR has been informed by the NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy Program Administrator (Dr. David Black of Aegis Sciences Corporation) that the test of AJ Allmendinger’s “B” sample will take place on Tuesday, July 24. The test will be conducted in Nashville, Tennessee at Aegis headquarters, per the NASCAR rule book.

Review of timeline:

· On June 29, NASCAR member Allmendinger, driver of the #22 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, was randomly tested by Aegis at the NASCAR event in Kentucky, per Section 19-6C.

Two crew members of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing have been fired, suspended indefinitely from NASCAR after they were busted for possession of 10.5 pounds of marijuana. Chip Ganassi said in a statement. “We have a zero tolerance policy in this organization and effective immediately, both individuals’ employment has been terminated.”

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 10, 2011) – NASCAR announced Wednesday that it has indefinitely suspended crew members Jerome Frey and Trevor Lysne, both of whom worked with the No. 42 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team, for violating Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the substance abuse policy) of the 2011 NASCAR rule book.
