Day One: Keselowski Arrives In Las Vegas For Champion’s Week
Week-Long Flurry Of Activity Features Fan Appearances, Burn Outs And Banquet

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 27, 2012) – Newly crowned NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski’s whirlwind of activity continues.

Different day, different city, different setting.

The run-up to Champion’s Week took Keselowski to the Big Apple and multiple appearances including “Late Show With David Letterman.” On Tuesday he was still talking about meeting the comic host. “He was even funnier in person than on TV,” said Keselowski.

Little wonder then, embarking on the opening day of Champion’s Week festivities in Las Vegas that Keselowski was channeling Willie Nelson, singing the opening lines of “On the Road Again.” A road that began in early March in Daytona Beach, Fla. with the Daytona 500 will reach its climax on Friday when Keselowski, team owner Roger Penske and crew chief Paul Wolfe will celebrate their first NASCAR Sprint Cup championships at Wynn Las Vegas.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. — The fuel strategy that was supposed to carry Jimmie Johnson to a sixth championship instead made a winner of his teammate, Jeff Gordon, who triumphed in Sunday’s Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway as Brad Keselowski locked up the NASCAR Sprint Cup title.

Gordon crossed the finish line 1.028 seconds ahead of Clint Bowyer, his nemesis from a week ago at Phoenix, as Johnson’s No. 48 Chevrolet sat forlorn in the garage, Johnson’s title hopes the victim of a pit road mistake and a rare part failure.

Ryan Newman ran third, followed by Kyle Busch and Greg Biffle.
