kyle_busch_kansasNo driver needs a bounce-back performance this week more than Kyle Busch, whose championship hopes took a hit with a 34th-place finish in Kansas – the track’s third consecutive race in which Busch was felled by accident. Busch dropped from third to fifth in the standings, 35 points behind Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Matt Kenseth. Busch has yet to win at Charlotte and finished 38th in May’s Coca-Cola 600.

Past performances favor Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon maintaining momentum as the Chase hits its mid-point. Each of the top-four ranked Chasers counts multiple Charlotte victories – a combined total of 15. Johnson and NASCAR Hall of Famers Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip are the all-time Charlotte winners with six victories. Gordon has won five times.

fox-camera-charlotte-cable-coca-coca-600-nascarPending further investigation of the cable camera system incident during the NASCAR race in Concord, North Carolina in May, NASCAR has decided, in collaboration with its broadcast partners, to suspend all media partner usage of aerial camera systems that hang over race tracks during its sanctioned events. The safety of our competitors and our fans remains NASCAR’s number one priority, and until total evaluation and analysis have been completed, usage of this particular technology enhancement and any similar enhancements, has been suspended.
