Kangaroo Express and Coca-Cola Partner for Kids at Kyle Petty’s Victory Junction
Month-long fundraiser across three states; more than 700 stores to sponsor camper
CARY, N.C., March 1, 2012 – The Pantry, Inc. (Nasdaq:PTRY), the leading independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States, is partnering with Coca-Cola for a fourth consecutive year to send children to Victory Junction, a year-round camping environment for children ages six to 16 with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses. The five-week fundraiser launches March 1 in more than 700 Kangaroo Express convenience stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
UPDATE APPEARANCE LOCATIONS: Kyle Petty: Tuesday, March 20; 10 a.m. – noon at the Kangaroo Express at 395 Charlottetown Ave. in Charlotte, NC.
Richard Petty: Tuesday, March 27; 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Kangaroo Express at 1115 Randolph Street in Thomasville, NC.
Victory Junction was founded in 2004 by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their late son Adam. The camp relies solely on donations from individuals and corporations like Kangaroo Express to give children a once in a lifetime camping experience. It costs $2,500 to send one child to camp for a week at no cost to his or her family.
“Victory Junction has captured the hearts of Kangaroo Express customers and employees and we are thrilled to be able to continue our support again this year,” said John Fisher, senior vice president of marketing, merchandising and restaurant operations, Kangaroo Express. “Last year we raised $634,000, enough to send more than 250 children to Victory Junction. We are anxious to see how many more children we can help support this year.”
