DOVER, Del. — To his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rivals, Brad Keselowski has the annoying habit of doing what he’s not supposed to do — as in winning Sunday’s AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway.

Adroitly saving fuel over the final 79-lap green-flag run, the devil in the Blue Deuce, Detroit’s consummate wheel man, triumphed in what was perhaps the fourth- or fifth- or sixth-best car in the third Chase for the Sprint Cup race.

Joey Logano roars to Nationwide victory at Dover

Sept. 29, 2012

DOVER, Del. — The steep concrete banks of Dover International Speedway aside, Saturday’s OneMain Financial 200 was hardly a cliffhanger, as Joey Logano dominated the proceedings from start to finish in winning his seventh NASCAR Nationwide Series race of the season.

Momentarily, at least, a caution on Lap 177 for Tim Andrews’ blown engine injected a modicum of suspense, but Logano reasserted his superiority after a restart on Lap 182 and pulled away for his second victory at the Monster Mile and the 16th of his career.

Round 1 Chase leader Brad Keselowski doesn’t have a large body of work at Dover, just five starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, fewest among Chase qualifiers. He’s yet to show any degree of mastery of one of the schedule’s most difficult challenges. Keselowski finished 12th in June and 20th last September and just two laps led at the track. Keselowski’s Driver Rating (76.1) ranks 11th among Chase contenders. Penske Racing has a win and four top-five finishes, all with Kurt Busch, between 2009 and 2011. Busch won last year’s AAA 400. Penske’s seven Dover victories is tied for third all-time with the Wood Brothers.
