DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — With a strong push from defending NASCAR Nationwide Series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kurt Busch won a wild Subway Jalapeno 250 Friday night at Daytona International Speedway, as Austin Dillon was turned sideways and wrecked in the tri-oval as Busch crossed the finish line.

Stenhouse came home second, followed by Michael Annett, who was pushing Dillon during a green-white-checkered-flag finish that took the race one lap beyond its scheduled distance of 100 laps.

Dillon slid sideways across the stripe in fourth place, with Joey Logano and series leader Elliott Sadler taking fifth and sixth, respectively.

The team issued a statement via their Twitter account on Tuesday.

@PhoenixRacing51

We have met with Kurt. At the end of the day, we are racers so we’re going racing with Kurt and the #51 Phoenix Chevrolet.

We know adjustments have to be made but how we fix that is between Kurt and myself.

We’re going to go to the track, work hard, race hard and work on trying to attract a sponsor – and we’re going to do that together.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., (Dec. 22, 2011) – “I just want to get back to having fun in the racecar.”

Those were the words spoken by Kurt Busch just a few days after the season-ending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Banquet in Las Vegas. Today, the 2004 Sprint Cup champion is well on his way toward that simple goal as he’s teamed with Phoenix Racing to run the full 2012 Sprint Cup schedule.

“I’m very happy to join Phoenix Racing and after entertaining a lot of quality offers, there’s no better place for me,” said Busch, winner of 24 Sprint Cup races, as well as the 2010 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, the 2011 Gatorade Duel and the 2011 Budweiser Shootout. “We’re going to run the full schedule together, and we’re going to have fun doing it.
