FORT WORTH, Tex.–The record book will say that Kyle Busch won the NRA 500 on Saturday night.

If truth be known, Busch started the process on Friday afternoon and applied the coup de grace with 20 laps left on Saturday evening.

Yes, Busch capped a perfect weekend when he took the checkered flag .508 seconds ahead of runner-up Martin Truex Jr. Continue reading “NSCS Recap: Busch caps perfect weekend with Cup win at Texas”

Brad Keselowski and his Penske Racing teammate Joey Logano will surely be facing penalties this week, as NASCAR confiscated rear end parts from both of their racecars. Keselowski, who wound up finishing ninth despite being out to lunch all race long, ripped the sanctioning body when he climbed from his racecar.

Earnhardt out of instinct brought his machine to pit lane, when he easily could have just swapped to the back up battery, as Sprint Cup Series racecars are equipped with two batteries. We’ll never know what could have been had Earnhardt just swapped to the second battery, but he believes he could have salvaged a decent finish. Every week in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams push the envelope looking for an advantage over the competition — this week it appears the Penske Racing teams push the envelope just a tad too far, as NASCAR confiscated rear-end housings and other parts from the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford (driven by Brad Keselowski) and the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford (driven by Joey Logano). Kurt Busch came just shy of setting a new track record at Texas Motor Speedway, but it still looked like the pole for the NRA 500 would be a nice consolation prize — but then his younger brother Kyle Busch knocked him off the provisional pole late in the session.
