WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.—Marcos Ambrose passed Brad Keselowski on the first lap of a green-white-checkered-flag finish at Watkins Glen and won Monday’s rain-delayed Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen under caution when a violent multicar wreck exploded behind him on the final circuit.
Ambrose, who charged through the bus stop (inner loop) and powered past Keselowski to the inside, became the fifth first-time winner in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series this year.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.—Subbing for Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch won Saturday’s Zippo 200 Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen International in an event in which Busch and his brother, Kyle Busch, led every lap.

Keselowski, who broke his ankle Aug. 3 during testing at Road Atlanta, watched the race from the ESPN television booth as Busch held off Jimmie Johnson and Joey Logano to win his first Nationwide race since 2006 and his third in 12 career starts.

Busch won in a green-white-checkered-flag finish that took the event three laps past its scheduled distance of 82 laps at the 2.45-mile road course.

BRONX, N.Y. (Aug. 11, 2011) – Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Wednesday night’s Major League Baseball matchup between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels at Yankees Stadium.
The Yankees won Wednesday night’s game 9-3 over the Angels, placing them in the lead of the American League Wild Card race.
“I had a great time last night at Yankee Stadium,” Harvick said. “I can now say I have thrown out the first pitch at the old Yankee Stadium as well as the new one, which will be a memory I will never forget. It was also great to see my two good friends Joe Girardi (Yankees team manager) and Gene Monahan (Yankees head athletic trainer), who will be retiring at the end of this season after 50 years within the Yankees organization.”

Nervous Regan Smith Tosses First Pitch With Success at Rockies-Phillies Game

DENVER, Colo. (Aug. 3, 2011) — Regan Smith said he was more nervous throwing out the ceremonial first pitch Wednesday at Coors Field than he was prior to competing in Sunday’s Brickyard 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

But as he did with his third-place Brickyard finish in his No. 78 Chevrolet, the Furniture Row Racing driver came through again before the Colorado Rockies-Philadelphia Phillies baseball game. Smith hurled the baseball with authority to Rockies catcher Chris Iannetta.
