2013 Sprint Media Tour Richard ChildressCharging Harvick, Steady Menard Work To End RCR Drought
Richard Childress Racing hasn’t celebrated a NASCAR Sprint Cup championship since Dale Earnhardt won his seventh trophy in 1994. Nineteen seasons later, the drought could be nearing an end. Kevin Harvick’s Coca-Cola 600 victory – the Californian’s second win of 2013 – makes the No. 29 RCR Chevrolet a solid Chase contender in the driver’s final season with Childress. Harvick, seventh in the standings, isn’t RCR’s only championship hopeful. Teammate Paul Menard, who recently extended his contract with Childress, ranks eighth. Each seeks his first win at Dover where RCR’s last victory came in the fall of 2006 by teammate Jeff Burton.

WELCOME, N.C. (DECEMBER 6, 2012) – Richard Childress Racing has signed a multi-year agreement with Brian Scott to be the driver of the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet Camaro for the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series season.

Scott, 24, of Boise, Idaho, has twice finished in the top 10 of the Nationwide Series driver championship point standings in three full seasons of competition. He finished eighth in 2011 and ninth this past year. He finished 14th and was runner-up in the series’ rookie of the year standings in 2010. “I am thrilled to have this opportunity to drive the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing in the Nationwide Series,” said Scott. “RCR has proven over the past 13 years that it can build and prepare winning cars in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and has for a variety of drivers. I just want to be the next name on that list. RCR has a rich tradition of winning races and championships at the highest level of our sport and I am excited about being a part of an organization, like theirs, that is committed to winning.

“Our goals for 2013 are going to be set at a high level and we are going to do everything within our power to achieve those goals. On a personal level I think I am going to fit in really well. Richard Childress and a lot of the people affiliated with RCR are avid outdoorsmen and that matches my background as well.”

Located on the sandy shores of the glacially carved Payette Lake, the iconic Shore Lodge is the premier resort in McCall, Idaho, offering a quintessential mountain retreat just two-hours north of Boise. The AAA Four Diamond award-winning resort boasts 77 spacious and comfortable guest suites, most featuring a large private balcony or patio overlooking Payette Lake. “We are thrilled to continue our support of Brian as he embarks on yet another successful year of racing,” said Dan Scott, general manager of Shore Lodge. “The team at Richard Childress Racing has been fantastic to work with and we are honored to have them representing Shore Lodge and McCall with the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevy.”

RCR and its drivers have earned 64 race victories, five season championships and two rookie-of-the-year awards since opening its Nationwide Series shop for the 2000 season. Kevin Harvick earned rookie of the year honors in 2000 and overall championships in 2001 and 2006. Harvick and Johnny Sauter earned the series’ first owner-only championship in 2003. Jeff Burton and Scott Wimmer duplicated the task in 2007, tying Richard Childress for the most owner championship titles in the Nationwide Series with four. Clint Bowyer earned the driver portion of the championship in 2008. In addition to Scott, the 2013 team lineup will include 2012 Rookie of the Year Austin Dillon in the No. 3 AdvoCare Chevrolet Camaro and an all-star lineup of drivers and sponsors in the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro.

“Brian is a strong young talent and we look forward to him, Phil and the entire No. 2 Shore Lodge team adding their part to RCR’s history of success in the NASCAR Nationwide Series,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “The fact that Brian is an avid outdoorsman only makes it an even better fit. We’re also proud to welcome Shore Lodge to our family of partners. The Scott family knows what it takes to create a tradition of excellence so we look forward to making our program a success both on the track and off.”
