Kyle Busch’s winning ways in the NASCAR Nationwide Series may have taken a one year hiatus in 2012, but he is now re-writing the history books in 2013. In winning Friday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300, Busch became the first driver in NASCAR Nationwide Series history to win four of the first six races in a season. Sam Hornish Jr.’s season heading into Texas was like a college student in the mid 90’s after using a cheat code on Mortal Kombat — in other words flawless victory. Through five race Hornish had racked up four top-fives, and five top-10 finishes and he had a firm stranglehold on the NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings.

Kurt Busch came just shy of setting a new track record at Texas Motor Speedway, but it still looked like the pole for the NRA 500 would be a nice consolation prize — but then his younger brother Kyle Busch knocked him off the provisional pole late in the session.
