WATKINS GLEN, NY – Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen International, announced earlier today that Jeff Gordon has been named the first member of the Class of 2011 for the Legends of The Glen. In front of local, regional, and international media, Printup presented Gordon with a hand-blown glass vase made by Vitrix Glass of Corning, NY, during an induction ceremony held in the historic road course’s media center. Mike Helton, president of NASCAR, was also in attendance to acknowledge Gordon’s contributions to the sport and join the celebration. Today’s ceremony will not be the last induction that is scheduled to occur during the 2011 season at The Glen.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.—Subbing for Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch won Saturday’s Zippo 200 Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen International in an event in which Busch and his brother, Kyle Busch, led every lap.

Keselowski, who broke his ankle Aug. 3 during testing at Road Atlanta, watched the race from the ESPN television booth as Busch held off Jimmie Johnson and Joey Logano to win his first Nationwide race since 2006 and his third in 12 career starts.

Busch won in a green-white-checkered-flag finish that took the event three laps past its scheduled distance of 82 laps at the 2.45-mile road course.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.—A system of showers that camped out over the Finger Lakes region in upstate New York forced postponement of the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen until Monday at 10 a.m. on ESPN
The rain arrived right after Sunday’s driver introductions for the 22nd NASCAR Sprint Cup race of the season. When the race begins Monday, Kyle Busch will start from the pole next to second-place qualifier AJ Allmendinger.
All told, 15 drivers broke the track record during time trials for the second road-course race on the Cup schedule. Juan Pablo Montoya, the defending race winner, will start fifth behind Busch, Allmendinger, Marcos Ambrose and five-time defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson.
