FORT WORTH, Texas — Justin Allgaier started Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway by qualifying eighth for the My Bariatric Solutions 300. When the race began a couple of hours later, Allgaier asserted himself as one of the drivers to beat.

The Riverton, Illinois native was looking sporty in his No. 7 Brandt Chevrolet Camaro with it’s corn racing stripes. Then, toward the end of Stage 1, Allgaier began to fade. Allgaier radioed to his team that he believed he was down a cylinder. His car continued to sputter around the track at a noticeably slower pace.

After the Stage finished, Allgaier took his car to the attention of his team in the garage.

FORT WORTH, Texas — It was a fast Friday for second-year NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, Daniel Hemric. In the two NXS practice sessions for Saturday’s My Bariatric Solutions 300 at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway, Hemric was second fastest in the morning and fastest overall in the afternoon.

The 27-year old Richard Childress Racing driver edged out Ryan Blaney in both sessions (Ryan Truex paced the opening session), and in the final practice session Hemric trailed only Blaney in 10-lap consecutive lap times.

It has been a great start to the 2018 season for Ryan Truex and Kaulig Racing. The duo, which came together in the offseason after the team parted ways with longtime driver Blake Koch, sits fourth in the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship standings after Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The 25-year-old driver guided his No. 11 Chevrolet Camaro to two Top-10 finishes (seventh at Daytona, ninth at Atlanta) to start the season, which marks the first time that Kaulig Racing has ever finished inside the Top-10 in two consecutive races. Truex isn’t satisfied and wants to make more history for the team this week in the Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
