Every week in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams push the envelope looking for an advantage over the competition — this week it appears the Penske Racing teams push the envelope just a tad too far, as NASCAR confiscated rear-end housings and other parts from the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford (driven by Brad Keselowski) and the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford (driven by Joey Logano).
There will be no ejections of team members or cars for the NRA 500, but expect big penalties from NASCAR towards the teams later this week.
Both drivers will assume their starting spots that were earned in Friday’s qualifying session, and will not have to start from the rear. Keselowski will roll off the grid from the 16th position, while Logano will start from 18th.
More to come on this story as it becomes available.
