In a race that featured four cautions, nonstop NASCAR racing action, and even the Sprint Unlimited pace car catching on fire, Denny Hamlin won tonights Sprint Unlimited.
The Penske Racing cars were very strong all night long. Dale Earnhardt Jr and Marcos Ambrose got into a heated exchange when they wrecked each other. There was a big wreck in segment two that took out half of the field and in the last segment 9 cars remained.
My pick to win tonights Sprint Unlimited at Daytona, Kurt Busch, got caught up in that segment 2 wreck. But at the end of it all, Denny Hamlin, driver of the #11 Fedex Toyota emerged victorious.
Kevin Harvick, driver of the #4 Jimmy Johns Chevrolet and favorite to win tonights Sprint Unlimited, did not defend his three Sprint Unlimited victories. (2009, 2010, and 2013)
Instead he finished 5th in a beat up mangled racecar in that segment 2 wreck. Tomorrow the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will qualify for the biggest race of the year, The Daytona 500, only on Fox at 10:00 AM PT and 1 PM ET.
