Dale Earnhardt Jr. is still recovering from slight injuries sustained in a plane crash this past Thursday at Elizabethton Municpal Airport in Tennessee.On Wednesday, Earnhardt answered a fan on Twitter who asked if he still planned on racing at Darlington next week in the wake of the plane crash.

Kevin Harvick had a fast car Saturday night in the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol. It may not have been a winning car — or it very well could have been — but he looked much stronger than the last place finish he was credited for.

Saturday night’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway was an uncharacteristic struggle for Kyle Busch — who has eight wins at the half-mile track throughout his career.

He qualified 31st. Went a lap down early. Was able to get it back and battled tooth-and-nail all night long. In the end, Busch was rewarded with a fourth-place finish for his efforts. At 30-years old, Landon Cassill isn’t quite old, but he’s also not a NASCAR young gun on the rise either.

In fact, you could argue — with the way the sport is structured — that the clock is running out on the Iowa-native realistically getting a big-time shot in any type of race-winning caliber equipment. If he never gets a chance to showcase what he’s truly capable of in a top-tier ride, it will be a complete injustice.
