DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2013) – Tony Stewart fans have spoken, and they’ve made it clear that they cannot wait to see the driver of the No. 14 Bass Pro Shops/Mobil 1 Chevrolet back on the track, even if it is on the cover of a video game. NASCAR announced today that fans worldwide have cast more than 700,000 votes in the “Drive for the Cover” campaign, ultimately selecting three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Stewart to appear on the cover of NASCAR ‘14. Stewart has appeared on the cover of the officially licensed NASCAR game twice before, but this is the first time he was selected by fans.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Revived by a victory one week ago at Martinsville Speedway, Jeff Gordon’s bid for a fifth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship slammed to a halt in the Turn 1 wall at Texas Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon.

A blown left front tire sent Gordon’s No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS into the wall on Lap 75 of the AAA Texas 500, Round 8 of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Gordon began the day in third, 27 points behind co-leaders Matt Kenseth of Joe Gibbs Racing and Jimmie Johnson, Gordon’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate. Jeff Gordon once appeared to own sole possession of that title, but he ceded it to Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson several years ago. Gordon took a large step toward reclaiming it Sunday when he earned his first win of the season, and the eighth of his career at Martinsville Speedway, by capturing the Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500.
