In the history of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), no other rider has won as many championships (15) and races (150) as Carmichael, earning him the nickname the GOAT (Greatest of All-Time). Carmichael was a record five-time AMA “Rider of the Year.”
Ricky Carmichael Quotes: “I’m really pumped for Martinsville. This is the first short track for us in the Truck Series this season, so it’s the first time I’m going into a weekend with at least some sense of what to expect. I have some short-track experience, so I’m already ahead of where I’ve been before practice started for the first three races. It’s been completely new for me every week up until now.
“We tested at Rockingham (at the half-mile test track similar to Martinsville) and it went really well. There was a Cup team there the same day, and the team tells me we were running laps times that were very competitive with them.
“Thanks to Oakley for stepping up for me and KHI. They are another of my long-time motocross sponsors that have continued to support me in my NASCAR efforts. We were originally scheduled for 14 races this year, and the only way we can add more to that is for the sponsors to write a check, so I’m excited to be carrying Oakley’s logo on the truck.”
The No. 4 KHI team is led by crew chief Billy Wilburn, a veteran of many years in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series.
