Sprint Introduces 2014 Miss Sprint Cup Lineup

Newcomer Madison Martin joins returning members Kim Coon and Brooke Werner

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – Dec. 20, 2013 – Today, more than 1 million Miss Sprint Cup fans and followers were introduced to the complete 2014 Miss Sprint Cup lineup on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Sprint (NYSE: S) announced that returning members Kim Coon (Orlando, Fla.) and Brooke Werner (Granville, Vt.) will be joined by newcomer Madison Martin of Cumberland, Md.

Proudly serving as the NASCAR fans’ “Friend on the Inside,” the three Miss Sprint Cup ambassadors represent the Sprint brand around the track at every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event and in Victory Lane. Through her social media presence, Miss Sprint Cup brings race fans closer to the sport they love by delivering behind-the-scenes pictures, updates and videos via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Adding small town charm to the Miss Sprint Cup lineup, Martin grew up in Cumberland, a little city nestled among the Appalachian Mountains, where you can often find her hitting the ski slopes. Staying close to home, Martin attended Frostburg State University, where she realized her love to be in front of the camera when she established the school’s first sports television show, “The Bobcast.”

After receiving her bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a double minor in journalism and communications studies, Martin packed her bags and moved to North Carolina to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. She worked at WSOC-TV in Charlotte, N.C., writing and reporting on stories about local people and community activities. When she isn’t at the racetrack, Martin – a former high school and collegiate golfer – loves working on her swing at the driving range, playing with her dog, Buddy, and practicing the violin.

“It’s truly a dream come true to combine my passion for sports and reporting by wearing the Miss Sprint Cup firesuit,” said Martin. “This opportunity to be Miss Sprint Cup is such a blessing for me. I cannot wait to meet all of the race fans at The Sprint Unlimited Experience and give them the inside scoop, as well as learning more about the sport I already love.”

Coon will be wearing the familiar black and yellow firesuit for a fourth season as Miss Sprint Cup, making the former marketing and public relations professional the veteran of the group. She joins former Miss Sprint Cup Monica Palumbo (2008-11) as the only four-year members in the history of the program.

“Being asked back for my fourth season is truly amazing,” said Coon. “I’m fortunate to be able to do what I love while representing a great company like Sprint. Each year as Miss Sprint Cup has been above and beyond what I ever dreamed, so I can only imagine what is in store for 2014!”

Rounding out the 2014 lineup is Werner, who is entering her second season as Miss Sprint Cup. The former Miss Vermont USA joined the program last year and is looking forward to passing off the rookie title.

“Madison is about to embark on one of the most memorable journeys as she puts on the Miss Sprint Cup firesuit for the first time,” said Werner. “My first year as Miss Sprint Cup was more exciting and fulfilling than I could have ever predicted – I couldn’t have asked for a better rookie season. We have so much in store for our fans in 2014, and I can’t wait to get things started.”

The program has gained tremendous recognition among race fans and industry members, with the Miss Sprint Cup representatives greeting thousands of fans every race weekend at The Sprint Unlimited Experience, Sprint’s mobile marketing display, where she interviews the sport’s top drivers, hosts interactive games, and informs fans of the latest Sprint product offerings.

Thanks to their engaging personalities and knowledge of the sport, the Miss Sprint Cup lineup serves as popular interview subjects among local media looking to get an insider’s view on the activities surrounding race weekends. As the Miss Sprint Cup program has been embraced by the NASCAR community, they now regularly participate in charity events and appear at other NASCAR sponsors’ events. In all, the Miss Sprint Cup representatives took part in nearly 1,000 media interviews and other appearances in 2013.

Sprint enters its 11th year in January as the title sponsor of NASCAR’s premier racing series. The Sprint Unlimited at Daytona kicks off the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season live at 8 p.m. (EST) Saturday, Feb. 15, on Fox Sports 1.
