Jimmie Johnson's 48 still THE team to beat

Johnson Back In Top 5

Well, that didn’t take long.

After yet another year of Daytona 500 disappointment, Johnson righted his ship and has sailed into the point standings’ top five, on the strength of consecutive victories at Auto Club Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Whenever Jimmie Johnson wins next, it’ll be his 50th career in the Cup Series. With it, he’ll move into the top 10 on the all-time wins list, tied with Hall of Fame inductee Junior Johnson and Hall of Fame nominee Ned Jarrett. Jimmie’s first win came in April 2002 at California.

Just in case anyone had forgotten, the No. 48 Chevrolet remains THE team to beat.
